Petitgrain Essential Oil: Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange)Leaf/Twig Oil This essential oil has a woody and kind of floral aroma with the sweetness from the orange blossom mixing with green, woody bitterness giving off slightly masculine undertones. The amazingly versatile bitter orange tree provides us with three separate essential oils: petitgrain from the small new twigs and fresh leaves, neroli from the orange blossoms and orange from the fruit. While it does not have the name and price tag of neroli, petitgrain has many of the same therapeutic uses with a lighter floral scent containing elements of citrus and wood. This is a relaxing and calming oil which can be used in home fragrance products to create a balancing and uplifting mood and enhance feelings of joy and calm in equal measure. This musky citrus oil is often used in perfume mixes as well as shampoos, serums and lotions. Petitgrain is particularly suited to formulations for combination or oily skin types.
